First numbers we ever meet are WHOLE NUMBERS, also called the NATURAL NUMBERS, and these are written down using NUMERALS. usually they are written using the ten numerals 0, 1, 2 ..., 9 where the position of a numeral dictates the value that it represents (eg 426 stands for 4 hundreds and two tens and 6 units. i.e 200 + 40 + 6).
